Convicted by software? Not so fast, says California lawmaker

“How do we convict people in the modern era? We do not need real evidence, we create it via technology. Predictive algorithms, data not connected to the “crime”, all is used to presume the guilt of a defendant. The State has all the money it needs to create facts—the defendant usually has little to disprove the misrepresentations of a computer.”
